Reversible Lace/Garter Stitch Scarf!

This is the first pattern that I have created. I don't know if this has been done before, but oh well right? This hip scarf super easy and I'm really enjoying making it for myself. With so many little lacey holes you can put a button on the knit part and make it a short and cute scarfette! All feedback is welcome and happy knitting!

Materials:

I used Caron Simply Soft in Gray Heather, but you can use whatever you want as long as it's worsted weight or something close.

Needles: US 8 (5 mm). If you want an "airy" scarf use bigger needles, and if you want a "tighter" scarf use smaller needles. Size US 8 is right in the middle!

Gauge (this isn't really important to the pattern): 8 sts = 5 cm (2 inches).

Note: This will make an (unblocked) width of about 13 cm (about 5 inches). To increase the width: add 4 or more stitches, dividable with 4. The scarf is very stretchy, but you could use a bigger/smaller needle size, thicker/thinner yarn or adjust the stitch count to get a different size.

K= knit
K2tog= knit 2 stitches together
YO= Yarn over
Sts= stitches

Pattern:

Cast on 24 sts (or any number of stiches dividable with 4).

Knit 2 rows.

Row 1-16: K4, *YO, K2tog, K2 repeat at * till end of the row.

Row 17-24: Kint.

Repeat the pattern row until your scarf is at desired length.

Finishing:

Knit 2 rows.

Cast off loosely.

Weave in ends.
Block if you want to.

  1. Thank you for sharing your pattern...I'm using it for some scarves I'm knitting for the Winter Special Olympics in Washington state in 2011. What a great pattern...I love it!!!
